PPL

The Private Pilots License (PPL) is a Part 61 license and is administered by theĀ South African Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). The Private Pilots License allows the holder to fly fixed wing aircraft, by day and not for reward (payment). Unless a student is doing an integrated CPL, the PPL is a prerequisite to earning a Commercial License (CPL).

You can add advanced ratings to a PPL as well such as a tug rating, agricultural rating, a night rating or instrument rating as well as a post maintenance flight test rating (with 500TT and 300 hrs P1). Remember that you may carry passengers or perform operations as per the ratings held above as long as it is not for reward.
